上海枫叶国际学校第一批学生自2013年9月入校后，在枫叶一年的学习生活里，他们积累经验，不断成长。如今，他们都已经深入到了理想的大学。为方便于处于“转型”路上的高一学生有所启发和帮助，我们整理了一部分分享心灵感受，铭记奋斗历程的好“文章”。

　　枫叶是一所国际性的高中，无论是课程体系还是教育方式都与普通学校有很大的差距，可能会让刚进入枫叶的你感到很不适应。不急，这是谁都会经历的适应期，你所要做的，是尽量缩短这个“适应期”。

　　在枫叶的课堂上，最大的障碍大概就是语言，想当初纯英语的授课，把我们都给学懵了，听都有困难，何来会一说呢?最好的办法，只有下课后把一天的笔记全部翻出来，认认真真地过上一遍又一遍，也可以和同学一起讨论、学习，实在搞不懂也不能就这么憋在心里，可以把不懂的地方给老师看，老师会很详细地教你，一遍不会就问第二遍，总会懂。学习是不需要节操的，所以不要害羞，该问的就问。大方承认自己不会，总比拿到一张大红成绩单要好得多。

　　所谓学以致用，我们学到的知识和技能，就是用来帮助我们更好地完成学业，取得更高的成绩的。不要小看平时的作业和小测验，一个差劲的分数就足以拉低平均分。因为我们到了高三的时候不会有高考，大学的招生官员看的就是平均分，所以，好好善待作业和考试，一不当心，就有可能和心仪的大学说再见啦。

　　当然，学习并不是枫叶的全部，枫叶教给我们的，除了学业必须的知识，还有如何养成良好的作息、生活、学习习惯、社交等综合的能力，只有真正全方面照顾到，才能尽快适应枫叶的学习生活。

　　Maple leaf is an international high school, maple leaf’s education system is very different for the education system of common high school, it may let you feel very confuse, we called this the adaptation period, everyone will have this, all you have to do, is to try to shorten the adaptation period.

　　In maple leaf's class, the biggest problem is probably the language, when we had our first lesson in Maple Leaf, we even couldn’t understand what teacher want to express, how could we learn the new knowledge? The best way, is take out your note to review after one day’s lesson, you also can discuss with your friends and classmate, it’s also good for you, when you meet something very difficult, please don’t just keep it in your mind, you can show your teacher where you don’t understand, your teacher will teach you very detailedly, until you understand , learning is not a shameful things, so don't be shy, just ask the question. Admit your incapable is better than get a badly school mark.

　　The so-called learn in order to practise, we learn knowledge, is used to help us better to complete their studies, to obtain higher scores, Study hard to let the teacher give you a beautiful score, don't underestimate the daily homework and quizzes, a poor score was enough to lower the average points, when we are grade12, we does not have the college entrance examination, university officials will see our average, therefore, if we haven’t be very careful in one exam, we may can say goodbye to our dream university.

　　Of course, learning is not the all of the maple leaf ,maple leaf teach us the necessary knowledge of study, and how to develop good work and rest, life, study habits, social, and so on all aspects of knowledge, only learn all of this, the maple leaf life can adapt as soon as possible, and your life in maple leaf will be more colorful and meaningful.

　　Dear Grade 10s，

　　I am Aaron. Zou from grade 11 in Zhou enlai class. I have stayed in Maple Leaf International School-Shanghai for a year. In the year of grade 10, you may feel interested in Maple Leaf but you will also feel disappointed and sad.

　　In Maple Leaf, you will find yourself and what you like. Also, you will find what you are actually good at. The first year of Maple Leaf you will take different kinds of courses. Some you are good at and some you are not.

　　Last year, I was done well at drama and social study but not good at English. With nine years' education of China, when I found my English could only get an B, I felt really disappointed. Teachers kept telling me that it was okay because I am not perfect. Like what I want to tell, we are not perfect. Not everyone is Einstein. We are not here to fight for best schools like Stanford or Harvard. We are here to get to know ourselves.Do not be so sad if you cannot get all the course A. Find yourselves and do what you like is the best thing in the world.

　　In every year of Maple Leaf, we have a lot of interesting activities and clubs. Those are where you can show yourselves. Don't be a audience all the time. You have to get on the stage at least once to tell the students all around you that you are not a dead person, you are alive. During the party of Christmas last year, I sang a song and stage and really it was very terrible. I could not actually sing songs but I tried and worked hard with my friends to make our performance better even though it was still a lame one. I also joined the competition to dub for films. Also, I went to Dalian with Mr.Reble and my friends to attend the Model of United Nation in local Maple Leaf. It was my first time and maybe our first time. So the only thing I did was sitting on my chair and heard 'the delegate of...' all through the meeting. I could not even help when we were discussing. Everyone has a first time. Don't be afraid. Experience will definitely help you in the rest of your life.

　　So don't worry too much what if you are better than us or what if you are not good. Move out your first step then you can start. Enjoy your first year in Maple Leaf.

　　Light your wonderful life by yourself!Hello, I’m Kok from 1101,I’m glad to tell you my life one year ago,same as you now.

　　As you know, our school is different from other school, we should have our own lifestyle and study style, that’s the key to the way to be succeed.

　　When I was in Grade 10, I found there’s lots of memorizing work to do in the introduction to literature. We should remember all the words, what’s the meaning, using.English is not like Mandarin, also you know the ability of understanding English is really important, including the IETLS, TOEFL, else. We could use our free time wisely, using it in a proper way. You can read more English novel as you can! Reble once told us , The definition of short story is under 10000 world, but it’s also a hard work for us to read! If you can keep reading every day, you will not be afraid of long novels! Also if you like, start taking some notes of the words, keep in a good habit, after one year you will get more words memory, you can understand many strange words, make the test more easier!

　　After school, we have a club, you can take your own interest t o choose. I like soccer really much and I took soccer club last year, also I think the model UN is interesting, you can learn more about the UN, What do they do? How ‘s their work? That’s the new challenge that I never happen in Class! When you choose clubs actively everyone around you such as your friends teachers could know what’s your favour. That helps you a lot.

　　The last point I wanna say is to do more volunteer work! Neither in class or outside! In class, you can try to do more work, also clean the classroom, asking more, for example in drama class, just don;t be shy, dance! Perform! Go ! Teachers always think that the volunteer works are really important for students, like a bouns! If you can make it, congratulation to you! The out side volunteer is also important! Many universities regard it as the required point. Social service, helping to teach in village, that’s really good to you! You can do it every time if you like!
