为了让黑利伯瑞国际学校的师生了解重阳节的来历，帮助学生们树立尊老、敬老、爱老、助老的良好风气，10月15日早，黑利伯瑞全体师生齐聚校操场举行了以重阳节为主题的升旗仪式，黑利伯瑞向全体师生宣传了民族节日——重阳节。今天的升旗仪式由黑利伯瑞小学部六年级C班的武逸飞和杨严坤两位同学主持。
升旗仪式上，通过师生演讲让同学们懂得要用实际行动尊敬老人、帮助老人。重阳节是我国古代传统节日，每年农历九月初九为重阳佳节。重阳节寓意为健康长久，中华民族向来有尊老爱老的传统美德，因此，重阳节又被定义为“老人节”，成为人们尊老、敬老，弘扬传统美德的节日。
